Hoards of dysfunctional fighting,

Instead of just kindly uniting?

Ongoing negative competition,

Instead of adopting a better edition?

How did it get like this?

Arrogance claiming to be "the best"

To humiliate the good in all the rest?

Delusion spreading like stoked wild fire

Where truth should rise and never retire?

How did it get like this?

The ongoing misplaced blame

 Putting the innocent to shame?

The heartless hate and greed

Lashing out at the poor in need?

How did it get like this?

 Victims of the most horrid abuse

Left suffering in a religious nuce?

The wars left to rage on and on,

Until those opposing them are gone?

How did it get like this?

 Homeless gropes in crowded streets

With no shoes on cold bare feet?

The unloved fading in pools of tears

In a lost world with unshifting gears?

How did it get like this?

In our families, communities and nations?

Where is the bonding in our relations -

Where is the healing in sorrows release?

Where is the Love? Where is the peace?

How did it get like this?

 We must turn in the other direction -

Open up to Love's real reflection.

Stop the fighting, hate and greed.

Extend a heart to those in need.

This is the way it should be.

A world set in loving peace.

None left to grope or bleed -

All the bound set truly free

In all of our precious humanity.

This is the way it should be.
