Meaningless Gains for Loss

If all the gold in the middle ground
Were gathered by a damaging greed,
That stole lands from the people
Who were torn and left to bleed,
What would be gained by the theft,
And what would be the final cost?
Will they ever repair the hearts
Cut by meaningless gains for loss?
